Kaichen Stephens

Kai Chen Qiu (born August 24, 1977), most commonly known by his stage name Kaichen Stephens, is a dance choreographer, artist, singer, author and philanthropist. His role as a choreographer in the major music videos from the bands; Peaches[1] and Opeth[2] have generated some degree of controversy from fans, consequently resulting in unfavourable coverage from the swedish media. In his most recent years, Kai Chen has pursued a number of philanthropic endeavors, donating large amounts of money to various charitable organizations and scientific research programs through the KaiChonny Foundation, established in 2007.[3][4] He has also co-authored several books detailing modern musical choreography.[5]

Choreography

KaiChen organised his first dance choreography when he was 15 years old for his high school band. Since then, KaiChen has choreographed major musical albums for the bands 'Peaches' and 'Opeth'.

He auditioned for a chance to choreograph the dance routines for Evergrey's latest album but lost to fellow choreographer Birgit Cullberg.[6]

His futuristic approaches to dancing have generated significant controversy and has elevated him to nationwide recognition.

Personal Life

Kaichen was diagnosed with Dyslexia from the age of 10. As a result, he was unable to pursue his ideal career as a hip-pop dancer.

He has also expressed interest in choreographing for the music band tSUnami since his high school years.

Kaichen has admitted to being born with a genetic defect, inhibiting him from drinking water directly, but has since found solace through the substitution of Kyneton as a form of liquid sustenance.

Philanthropy

Kaichen formed the KaiChonny Foundation to support the research for cancer and AIDS as well as funding support programs for children in need all across the world. He has, since 2011 donated in excess of 300,000 USD to these causes.
